The Office of Institutional Research conducts systematic and thorough research to help advance the College’s goals and to support institutional planning and decision-making, assessment, and enhancement of student experience. It serves as a reliable source for comprehensive, accurate, and consistent information concerning institutional characteristics.
The Office performs the following major functions:
- Collecting and analyzing data and producing research reports assessing learning environments, student engagement, satisfaction, and learning outcomes, alumni outcomes, and other aspects of educational effectiveness;
- Compiling and updating the Gettysburg College Fact Book, Facts & Figures, and Fact of the Week;
- Conducting retention studies and providing enrollment projections (summer melt/fall enrollment projections; 5-yr projections);
- Performing special research and data analyses for the senior leadership;
- Conducting peer benchmarking;
- Developing and updating data visualizations--interactive dashboards--to promote campus utilization of assessment/institutional data and to support student success;
- Completing or coordinating various external reporting;
- Responding to requests from other units for assistance with assessment and data analytics;
- Assisting in reaccreditation activities and program reviews.
Note about the Office website: Most of the site is open to the general public; some resources are restricted to users with a Gettysburg College ID.
